French Marigold

Asteraceae

The MOST-RESEARCHED companion plant in existence. Extensive peer-reviewed literature on nematode suppression (alpha-terthienyl). Compact (6-12 inches), blooms 50-60 days from seed continuously until frost. CRITICAL NUANCE: casual interplanting does NOT suppress nematodes — requires dense cover-crop-density monoculture for full season, then rotation to vegetables. For mixed plantings, value is pollinator attraction and scent-based pest deterrence.
