Fresno Peppers
Open-pollinated · Solanaceae
Distinct variety often mislabeled as 'red jalapeño.' Created by Clarence Brown Hamlin in 1952 in Fresno, California. Key differences from jalapeño: thinner walls, wider SHU range, and dramatically different red-ripe flavor — smokier, fruitier, more complex. Best harvested red. Compact plant (18-24 inches). Open-pollinated.
