Snow Crown Cauliflower

Brassicaceae

Snow Crown is an AAS (All-America Selections) winner and the most widely recommended cauliflower for home gardens across zones 5-9. One of the most heat-tolerant cauliflowers available, maturing in 50-60 days from transplant — faster than most Snowball types. Produces a large, dense white curd. MOST temperature-sensitive brassica. Optimal curd formation at 50-70°F. Three unique failure modes: BUTTONING (cold stress → marble-sized head), RICINESS (heat → fuzzy/grainy curd), and COLOR LOSS (sunlight → yellowing/purpling). White varieties require BLANCHING. Single head per plant — no side shoots, no second chances. Flag as 'experienced gardener'. Most boron-sensitive brassica. Snow Crown (50-60 DTM) for spring; Snowball for fall.
